Assistant Director of Engineering | Hotel Du Pont | Wilmington, DE |

Responsibilities

You will look after the hotel as if it were your home, ensuring broken things get fixed and implementing a detailed program to prevent issues before they arise. Your role involves maintaining guestrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas, as well as overseeing capital plans to keep the hotel fresh and appealing.

• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
• Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
• Lead, manage, and communicate information about capital projects and property rehabilitation.
• Communicate with hotel department heads to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and lead all maintenance staff.
• Ensure the proper organization, use, and storage of tools, equipment, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience in a hotel.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
• Ability to perform in a high-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Ability to effectively respond to emergencies.

Work Environment

While some work may be behind a desk, you will frequently move around the property. Physical demands include:

• Standing/sitting for extended periods.
• Carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Walking, bending, twisting, and climbing stairs.

You must be available on-call at all times, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergencies.
