About the role
The Assistant Director of Early Educational Services supports the Deputy Director of Educational Services with the day-to-day operation and coordination of all Odyssey House Early Educational Services. They oversee childcare workers, assistant teachers, and teachers, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Educational Services in developing and monitoring program systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain good relations with regulatory bodies, partnering agencies, referral sources, and the community.
- Prepare informational material and documents for prospective parents.
- Support the teaching team in screening, assessing, and enrolling children in the program.
- Supervise the maintenance of school records and staff record keeping.
- Act as a child advocate, addressing grievances and complaints.
- Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in personnel actions, training, and reporting.
- Coordinate classroom meals and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead quality management activities and prepare proposals and reports.
Requirements
- New York State Initial or Permanent Teacher Certification (N-6) or (Birth – 2 nd grade) and a master’s degree in early childhood education, Special Education, or general Education.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a group teacher in a program for children under five years of age.
- One (1) year of early educational supervisory and administrative experience preferred.
- Knowledge of NYC Department of Health Regulations and codes.
- Knowledge of OASAS and ACS protocol.
- NYS Central Registry Check and fingerprint clearance required.
- Completed Child Abuse Reporting and School Safety and Violence Trainings.
- Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record, and Outlook).
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and on-call responsibilities.
