The Assistant Director for Digital Engagement and Operations is an integral member of the New Student Orientation team and reports to the Director of New Student Orientation. The Assistant Director provides functional leadership for the design, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of comprehensive orientation experiences, which includes management of digital orientation curriculum; facilitating departmental assessment efforts; managing orientation communications and digital engagement; and directing the operational planning and execution of in-person orientation sessions. Working with a high level of autonomy, the Assistant Director collaborates with partners across Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, and other University units to coordinate digital content and communications, usage of facilities, staffing, and program delivery. The Assistant Director also supervises temporary graduate and undergraduate staff and supports their training, performance, professional development, and successful execution of assigned responsibilities. A successful candidate will demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies:Knowledge of student affairs, student development, transition, and student-success principles and practices.Ability to exercise sound judgement and make timely operational decisions while maintaining appropriate communication and coordination with the Director and other departmental leaders.Ability to communicate complex information clearly in written and verbal formats across diverse audiences and organizational contexts.Ability to develop engaging and accessible digital resources in alignment with best practices for curriculum development and learning outcomes.Ability to demonstrate technological literacy across digital communication platforms, learning-management systems, and digital design tools (i.e., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)Ability to develop assessment tools, analyze quantitative and qualitative information, interpret findings, and translate results into program improvements.Ability to demonstrate strong project-management skills in the context of large-scale programming, including the ability to establish timelines, coordinate interdependent tasks, manage competing priorities, and achieve deliverable deadlines.Ability to manage budgets, human resources, and program materials responsibly in line with relevant University system policies.Ability to recruit, train, supervise and develop temporary staff while maintaining clear expectations, appropriate documentation, and compliance with relevant employment policies. Minimal QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, instructional design, education, communications, or a related field preferred. Three or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in orientation, transition programs, student affairs, enrollment management, large-scale program administration, or a related functional area is preferred. Other Preferred Experience Includes:Designing student learning outcomes and educational curricula.Conducting program assessment and using findings for improvement.Managing communications and digital platforms.Coordinating complex projects involving multiple campus partners.Managing budgets, inventory, or vendor relationships.Supervising graduate or undergraduate staff.Working directly with incoming students and their families or supporters.
