About the role

The Assistant Director of Development-Strategic Partnerships is based in the College of Pharmacy and reports to the Senior Director of Development & Alumni Relations. This position is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects in support of the College's priorities. The position includes individuals, corporations, industry partners, and private foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects. An ideal portfolio will comprise a combination of individuals, corporations, industry partners, and private foundations.
  • Effectively utilize GAIL to ensure all prospects have a documented and strategic plan in the system.
  • Participate in prospect management meetings within the College and with the Office of Development & Alumni Relations.
  • Collaborate with units within the College of Pharmacy and across campus to effectively engage prospects.
  • Work collaboratively with UGA College of Pharmacy academic departments, faculty, and programs to support and guide them through the philanthropic process.
  • Prepare timely, accurate, and relevant proposals, presentations, and other fundraising materials for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects in support of the College of Pharmacy’s priorities.
  • Telephone and/or correspondence preparation and follow-up are required.
  • Manage a pre-allocated travel budget and plan trips strategically.
  • Attend College of Pharmacy events, including but not limited to the White Coat Ceremony, Pinning Ceremony, Commencement Ceremony, and Homecoming Reunion Tailgate.
  • Attend College of Pharmacy Development & Alumni Relations team meetings, occasional Saturday home football games, University Development & Alumni Relations meetings, and professional pharmacy meetings as related to engagement of prospects.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated history of success raising philanthropic gifts.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and generate creative solutions to advance the College’s efforts to maintain and strengthen high-quality relationships with donors.
  • Proficient computer literacy and demonstrated skill using programs for the preparation and dissemination of communication materials.
  • Willingness to interface with donors by phone, virtually, and in person, as well as through written communication.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills to prepare and edit effective correspondence, proposals, and creative solicitation materials.
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills to make persuasive presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adequate attention to detail and possess skills and ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities.

Physical Demands

  • Work in a standard office environment.
  • Travel in and out of state.
  • Drive as needed to perform job duties.
  • Work nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively in writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Organize and establish priorities; remember details; multitask.
  • Lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
