About the role
This position provides advising support for designated student programming organizations and committees. It involves managing and coordinating the Signature Events program, including developing and maintaining UF Traditions, event creation and implementation, and on-site event management. Other responsibilities include advising Class Councils, Student Government Productions, and other student organizations.
Responsibilities
- Advise Class Councils in planning and executing class-wide events and campus traditions.
- Advises Student Government Productions on large-scale concerts with attendees ranging from 500-15,000.
- Support GatorNights, ACCENT Speaker’s Bureau, and other departmental campus events.
- Advises other student organizations and committees on social, educational, and cultural programs.
- Serve as staff advisor to major campus-wide events.
- Aid in the performer contract process for events exceeding $1,000,000.
- Advise student leaders on event programming, including idea development, budgeting, planning, advertising, promotion, implementation, and evaluation.
- Interpret university policies for students and student organizations regarding management of programs, contracts, safety, liability, and risk management, and fiscal management.
- Assist with budget planning, monitoring, and reporting for events.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure proper procedures, controls, and financial guidelines for all areas including organization expenditures.
- Develop, conduct, and analyze research and assessments for various programs and services of the Office of Campus Engagement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and promotions strategy for the services and programs of the Office of Campus Engagement.
- Assist with budget planning and reporting.
- Provide supervision, training, and support for the Program Coordinator – GatorNights and one graduate assistant.
- Contribute to the Division and University through active participation on committees and division-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience, or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Demonstrated experience in advising students and working with event planning and student organizations at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated planning, organization, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with computers and basic software applications.
- Demonstrated a commitment to creating an inclusive environment through strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with campus programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in marketing and promotions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in budget development.
