Position Information

The Assistant Director, Health Care Programs position is open to all applicants. This position is exempt and full-time-staff, with a salary range of $52,772.00 - $67,285.50 per 12 months. The position is open until filled.

Position Summary Information

  • The purpose of this position is to plan and manage the development and delivery of publicly scheduled Healthcare – Continuing Education programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for expanding the Health Care Programs offerings, develop course curriculum, assemble and compile all materials required for accreditation of the program with the ultimate goal to improve the student learning environment and experience.

  • Responsibilities include assisting with policy development, grant writing, marketing of programs and student engagement, and staff supervision and training. Under the leadership of the Dean of Continuing & Community Education, the Assistant Director is the academic leader in instruction, assessment, and curriculum of Continuing Education Health Care Programs. This position is responsible for developing and assessing health care instructors, creating syllabi for instructor-led as well as online courses. This person should be able to retrieve outcomes data to assess the effectiveness of the programs and certification passing rates.

  • Minimum Qualifications: Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN), Unencumbered Texas Registered Nursing License.

  • Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing with a wide variety of individuals within and outside the department, and frequently with students, instructors, and staff of the College. Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel. Significant decision making and problem solving skills. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Proficient with computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, multi-line phone systems, Microsoft Office including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel.

  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in the development of health care training programs. Experience in higher education supervising instructors, staff, or students.

Job Duties

  • Assess health care provider and community needs for workforce development programs. Consult with advisory committees, health care businesses and health care professional organizations to identify education and training needs. Analyze labor market information to identify demand occupations and trends in health care sector for program development purposes.

  • Maintain documents as required by agencies. Ensure program compliance with guidelines of regulatory agencies. Develop program policies and procedures. Assist with grant writing. Provide information for state and financial reporting.

  • Provides training and professional development for all Health Care instructors to maintain the integrity of programs offered. Builds an environment of commitment and and alignment with the organization strategies and goals. Approves new instructors for hire.

  • Provide leadership and supervision of instructional personnel and areas within the Del Mar College Health Care Programs department. Develop program curriculum and create course syllabi. Identifies and implements best practices in the field.

  • Oversee budgets and assist the Dean in making budget projections for the upcoming academic year. Resourceful with budget. Implement best practices. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Align healthcare programs in accordance with HB8 requirements and serve on Continuing Education Curriculum Committee.
