Assistant Director for Transfer Enrollment

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, this role provides strategic leadership for the recruitment, enrollment, and success of transfer students.

Responsibilities

  • Manages key transfer partnerships and oversees the development and execution of transfer enrollment strategies that increase enrollment and yield and enhance student success outcomes.
  • Maintains an active recruitment portfolio focused on transfer students, including community and technical colleges.
  • Represents Winthrop at recruitment events, transfer fairs, information sessions, and yield initiatives.
  • Reviews transfer applications, evaluates academic credentials, and renders admissions decisions in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Provides direct counseling to prospective transfer students and families regarding admissions, financial aid, and transfer pathways.
  • Monitors transfer applicant pipelines and implements outreach strategies to support application completion and yield.
  • Assists in planning and executing transfer-focused events, including Transfer Tuesday programs and admitted student initiatives.
  • Collaborates with marketing teams to support targeted communications and recruitment messaging.
  • Develops and implements transfer enrollment strategies aligned with institutional enrollment goals.
  • Analyzes transfer enrollment data, market trends, and recruitment outcomes to guide strategic decisions.
  • Establishes annual transfer recruitment goals and assesses progress toward enrollment targets.
  • Supports division-wide strategic enrollment planning efforts.
  • Supervises the Transfer Admissions Recruiter and Transfer Enrollment Coordinator, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensures consistent recruitment strategies, communication plans, and workflow processes across the transfer team.
  • Supports professional development and training initiatives for staff.
  • Manages and strengthens partnerships with technical colleges, community colleges, and pathway programs.
  • Serves as a liaison with Winthrop’s academic colleges and campus partners to ensure seamless transfer pathways.
  • Supports articulation agreements and collaborative initiatives that enhance transfer enrollment growth.
  • Ensures alignment between recruitment activities and institutional priorities.
  • Monitors transfer enrollment trends, application data, and recruitment performance metrics.
  • Provides regular reports and insights to Enrollment Management leadership.
  • Partners with CRM and operations teams to enhance transfer communication strategies and data tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of admissions experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of higher education student admissions and recruiting best practices; marketing and recruitment strategies; secondary and postsecondary school systems; and counseling/guidance techniques.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and implement recruitment strategies for assigned territory to meet goals.
  • Ability to quickly learn new policies, procedures, and information on the university and its academic programs and advise students on a wide range of topics.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow established policies and procedures in making admissions decisions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the general public.
  • Sufficient technical skills to master required software.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant experience in admissions.
  • Experience in public speaking and program coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with SLATE customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Schedule

Position requires work outside normal business hours and up to 30% travel, including overnight.

Pay

Annual salary range: $48,374–$53,000; actual salary depends on qualifications.
