About the Role

The Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Management reports directly to the Director of Facilities & Event Management. This position serves as the primary facilities operations point-of-contact for select athletic venues and the primary game/event management point-of-contact for multiple intercollegiate athletic programs and sporting events. Responsibilities include event setup and breakdown, day-to-day facility maintenance of assigned facilities (maintenance, grounds, landscaping, IT, network/televisions, custodial, concessions/catering, inventory, parking operations, etc.), and assisting with the execution of assigned intercollegiate athletic contests as well as occasional third-party special events/rentals.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily routine maintenance, cleaning, orderliness, and facility checks of assigned athletic facilities; directly responds to and/or dispatches issues requiring attention (40%).
  • Performs event operations preparation and execution for assigned intercollegiate athletic contests, including producing timing/event sheets, facility setup/breakdown, coordinating event/security staffing, emergency medical staffing, law enforcement, game officials, and game management staff. Serves as the lead event operations contact for multiple athletic programs and may serve as the secondary contact for others (65%).
  • Assists with the execution of all Tulane Football home gamedays, overseeing assigned areas and responsibilities, assisting customers/fans with issues, and working with contracted and Tulane staff to ensure a successful gameday experience (15%).
  • Manages assigned daily facility management systems, such as Blackboard card access, EMS scheduling, venue key management, budgeting, sport field lighting scheduling, and scoring systems (10%).
  • Performs other duties as requested or required (10%).
  • Ensures compliance with NCAA, American Conference, and university rules and regulations, including attending compliance seminars, completing required paperwork, and reporting potential violations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration or a closely related field.
  • 1 year of experience in athletic facilities and/or event management.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certifications.

  • Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and social media.
  • Proven ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American Conference rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Previous experience at the NCAA Division I level in athletic facilities and/or event management.
