About the Role

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore counties.

The Assistant Director, Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of all areas of the department(s). As a member of the management team, this role involves developing goals, policy, staff competency, quality of service, and priority setting. The Assistant Director also maintains collegial relationships with physicians, communicates regularly with key physicians about clinical practice, unit activities, and overall satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate departmental activities.
  • Develop goals, policies, staff competencies, and quality-of-service standards.
  • Set priorities and ensure efficient operations.
  • Maintain collegial relationships with physicians and communicate regularly regarding clinical practice and unit activities.
  • Supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required); Master’s degree (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, with at least 3 years in a medical setting.
  • Active RN license (required).
  • BLS (required), ACLS (required), Critical Care certification (preferred).
