Assistant Director, Clinical Learning Center, Open Level Instructional Specialist (12 Months Salaried) College of Medicine
The Assistant Director of the Clinical Learning Center (CLC) supports and enhances clinical skills education within the medical and physician assistant curricula. The position reports to the Director of the CLC and provides operational, instructional, and educational design support for simulation-based and standardized patient learning activities.
Responsibilities
- Support development and implementation of integrated clinical skills curriculum materials for medical and physician assistant students.
- Aid in design and facilitation of small group learning sessions and simulation-based instructional activities.
- Provide informal coaching, tutoring, and clinical skills support to students.
- Contribute to interprofessional education initiatives and curriculum integration efforts.
- Aid in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
- Aid in the orientation, training, assessment, and quality assurance of standardized patients.
- Develop clinical case scenarios and program scenarios into simulation systems and task trainers.
- Support troubleshooting and instructional use of simulation technologies (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, and related platforms).
- Assist in day-to-day operations of the Clinical Learning Center, including scheduling, resource coordination, and equipment management.
- Support maintenance and operational readiness of simulation equipment, audiovisual systems, and clinical learning technologies.
- Contribute to policy development and implementation related to CLC instructional operations.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement processes for CLC programs and services.
- Serve in an acting leadership capacity for the CLC in the absence of the Director.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or terminal degree in Nursing, Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies, Health Sciences, Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Current active Florida licensure as a healthcare professional, as appropriate to the candidate’s discipline and responsibilities (e.g., RN, APRN/NP, PA, or MD/DO), by start date.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, training, or clinical instruction in health professions education.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in clinical practice, health professions education, or healthcare administration.
- Experience in simulation-based education, standardized patient programs, or clinical skills laboratories.
- Experience with curriculum development in medical or health professions education.
- Familiarity with simulation technologies (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, or comparable systems).
- Experience with continuous quality improvement (CQI), program evaluation, or educational outcomes assessment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills in an academic medical environment.
