Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supports the School Director and serves as Acting School Director in his/her absence.
  • Supervises and evaluates all teaching faculty, curriculum design and improvement.
  • Collaborates with the School Director on teacher professional development and teacher assignment.
  • Supports extracurricular activities, and fulfills administrative duties as assigned by the School Director.
  • Assists in providing strategic leadership for school improvement and development.
  • Supports daily school operations regarding academics, day-to-day activities, security, and staffing to ensure a successful school.
  • Ensures an orderly, motivational, and aspirational culture and a strong school community where teaching, learning, and healthy relationships can thrive.
  • Maintains professional internal and external relations with the board, donors, and local and national community demonstrating the school is well managed.
  • Implements consistent strategies for managing students with the most challenging behaviors in a deterring and therapeutic manner that does not allow disruption of the norms of the school and the learning of other students.
  • Enforces the code of conduct to maintain proper discipline and conduct.
  • Aids the School Director in the development, support, and implementation of school policies.
  • Ensures high standards of achievement for all students.
  • Utilizes data-driven behavior management systems and practices to ensure consistent norms of orderly, respectful behavior throughout the school that preserve the sanctity of teaching and learning in the classroom.
  • Communicates relevant policies and procedures with regard to student discipline, conduct, and attendance to students, staff, and parents.
  • Participates and monitors the RTI process.
  • Supports the implementation of the instructional framework.
  • Partners with external organizations that enrich the culture of the school through service opportunities, life and cultural experiences, educational and support programs, and other resources.
  • Effectively creates and submits weekly/monthly reporting to supervisor.
  • Prepares required reports and paperwork such as discipline and suspension reports.
  • Aids the Director with student expulsions.
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning all student and staff information and in all professional matters.
  • Supports ongoing development of teaching for all staff through a variety of strategies, including observing and implementing, lesson observations, regular use of data, collaborative planning and inquiry, informal support strategies, including coaching and mentoring, systematic use of formative assessment data to guide learning support and drive instruction, curriculum, and professional development.
  • Aids in the evaluation of all staff according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains facilities in the appropriate manner and follows the appropriate procedures to remediate issues.
  • Collaborates with colleagues demonstrating a model of connected educators and develops positive working relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Is a part of a whole school team, actively involved in decision-making on the preparation and development of policies and programs of study, teaching materials, resources, methods of teaching, and pastoral arrangements.
  • Performs all other job duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in the use of technology.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related area. Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Administrative certification welcomed but not mandatory.
  • Experience: 1–2 years’ experience as a school leader or in a leadership role educational leadership experience or program management experience.
