About the role

The Assistant Director is the operational backbone of the school. You work alongside the Director to ensure every classroom, every teacher, and every family interaction reflects the standard Children’s Lighthouse is known for. You are the person who keeps things running when the Director is focused on the big picture — and you are a leader in your own right. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Teacher or current Assistant Director who is ready for more responsibility and wants a clear path toward a Director role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the School Director in all aspects of daily operations
  • Supervise classroom environments and provide direct coaching and support to teaching staff
  • Step in as acting Director in the Director’s absence
  • Assist with new family onboarding, tours, and enrollment follow-up
  • Monitor and maintain licensing compliance, health and safety standards, and classroom ratios
  • Support staff scheduling, coverage, and substitute coordination
  • Help implement CLH curriculum standards and Lighthouse Pathways® programming across all classrooms
  • Communicate proactively with families to ensure concerns are addressed and relationships are strong
  • Assist with staff hiring, orientation, and ongoing professional development

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in early childhood education leadership (Lead Teacher, Senior Teacher, or Assistant Director)
  • Colorado Director Qualification or ability to obtain
  • Strong knowledge of Colorado childcare licensing requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold a team accountable
  • Excellent communication skills with families, staff, and leadership
  • Organized, dependable, and calm under pressure
  • A genuine passion for early childhood education and a commitment to children’s development
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
