Assistant Deli Manager
About the role
Joining Sprouts Farmers Market as an Assistant Deli Manager means you'll play a crucial part in helping customers make healthy food choices by providing exceptional customer service. Your role involves managing and leading a busy team in the deli department.
Responsibilities
- Manage and merchandise the deli department for maximum productivity and profit.
- Order and control inventory, ensure product quality, and supervise the deli team.
- Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
- Lead a team that focuses on delivering the best quality products, highest levels of service, and the most exceptional customer experience.
- Unload and sort store deliveries, operate and maintain deli equipment.
- Affirm compliance with all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations, ensuring other team members are aware and following these procedures.
- Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the deli team.
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
- Lift/carry product horizontally/vertically weighing up to 70 lbs., stand for up to 4 hours continuously, and assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition.
- Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment; assist in keeping all equipment in good working order.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old with a preferred 2 years supervisory experience and strong knowledge of deli or related food service.
- Dependable and reliable, able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to take and give direction in a team environment.
- Outgoing and friendly behavior, positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers, take special orders, and answer phones.
- Past leadership experience, building, motivating, and maintaining staff, and a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
- Focus on detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Food Safety certification.
- Ability to lift/carry product horizontally/vertically weighing up to 70 lbs., stand for up to 4 hours continuously, and operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, weights and measures, store safety, employee safety, refrigeration, and sanitation.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $29.15 / hour. Sprouts Farmers Market determines pay based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
