Assistant Debate Coach/Head Novice
Job Description
The Assistant Debate Coach/Head Novice position at Brookings High School is responsible for supporting the Debate Team coach in all aspects of coaching and mentoring novice debaters. This includes preparing students for tournaments, providing feedback on speeches, and managing team logistics.
- Prepare students for regional and national debate tournaments
- Provide constructive feedback on speeches and arguments
- Manage team schedules and travel arrangements
- Mentor novice debaters, helping them develop their debating skills
- Collaborate with the Debate Team coach to ensure team success
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must have a strong background in debate and a passion for teaching and mentoring young debaters. Experience working with high school students is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or related field
- Experience as a debate coach or mentor
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
