Key Responsibilities
- Travels to and judges at local, state, and/or national circuit tournaments, either in California or throughout the country, monthly (reasonable airfare, hotel, and meal expenses covered).
- Aids in planning the team competition strategy and with the event logistics at competitions (help reserve airfare and hotel accommodations).
- Aids in research and case-building, attends in-person weekly practices, and leads debate drills.
- Prepares and delivers lectures regarding current issues and events.
- Provides approximately ten hours of tutoring per week.
- Represents the school at meetings and other official administrative functions with area coaches.
Physical Demands
- Stand for extended periods.
- Sit for extended periods.
- Bend and reach for filing and other job-related functions.
- Climb up and down stairs.
- Bend, stoop, and lift to move and retrieve materials.
- Pull, push, and lift.
- Reach both above and below shoulder height.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is not required but preferred.
- Must have 3-4 years prior competitive experience in Public Forum, Policy, and/or Lincoln-Douglas debate formats.
