About the role
The Assistant Dean of Admissions is a Senior leader of the dean’s leadership team, working closely with the Dean and having leadership responsibilities for various areas including Student Relationship Management (SRM) and Communications, the Campus Visit Experience, and management of regional admissions staff. The Assistant Dean will play a critical role in developing the Office of Admissions Strategic Plan, preparing annual reports, and representing the University to various constituents.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior leader within the recruitment team, shaping and directing strategy for assigned territories and populations.
- Represent the University at major visitation events, high-profile prospective family and special interest candidate meetings, and other high-visibility engagements.
- Plan and execute recruitment travel for designated schools, including school visits, college fairs, case study programs, and special programming.
- Review applications for admission for a designated student population and participate in shaping the entering class to meet undergraduate enrollment goals.
- Provide management, direction, and strategic vision to the Student Relationship Management (SRM) Team, Campus Visit Experience Team, and Regional Admissions Team.
- Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and long-range enrollment goals as a member of the Dean’s senior leadership team.
- Create and execute a staff development plan to support staff members at every level of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
- Ten years of experience in college admissions.
- Skills include management, budgeting, personnel relations, communications, public speaking, marketing, and data analysis.

- Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully across multiple departments and collaborate with other admissions and student services professionals.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to multi-task, adhere to deadlines, and respond quickly when necessary.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends and travel to off-site locations.
