About the Role

The Assistant Dean for Online Programs provides overall leadership and coordination of the development, delivery, and operations of the College of Business Administration’s online educational programs. This role oversees the creation of course standards and templates, collaborates with department heads to identify faculty for online course development and instruction, and assesses the effectiveness of instructional practices. The Assistant Dean supervises student services for online program enrollees and coordinates marketing and recruiting efforts with campus and college resources such as Extended Campus, CBA Student Recruitment, and Learning Technology Solutions. The role also leads strategic planning for future online degree and certificate programs and supports faculty and students engaged in online programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of online program delivery, including student services, course delivery, and setting enrollment and satisfaction goals.
• Identify opportunities for new online degree and certificate programs and lead approval and development efforts.
• Oversee the course development process for online programs, collaborating with faculty and staff to address challenges and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with department heads to identify faculty for developing and teaching online courses.
• Serve as the college’s liaison to campus and professional organizations focused on online education, such as UIC Extended Campus.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of online initiatives using key success indicators identified with the Dean.
• Serve as a member of the college’s senior leadership team, participating in committees and leading strategic initiatives as assigned by the Dean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree.
• 10 years of experience in higher education.
• Knowledge of online learning technologies and pedagogies.
• Knowledge of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation standards.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA, MPA, or Master of Educational Administration.
• Experience in academic program and/or student services leadership.
• Knowledge of trends in business school enrollments and curricula.
• Knowledge of markets for new business educational programs.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
