Position Summary
This is a full-time position for an attorney who is committed to serving the public in a fast-paced environment that encourages and rewards teamwork, creative thinking, and sound judgment. Assistant County Solicitors in the Generalist role provide a variety of legal services and advice to County departments including both litigation and on transactional matters.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Reviews contracts, purchasing materials, and other business documents relating to the County's business with outside vendors.
- Defends the County in civil actions brought in state or federal court at the trial and appellate levels.
- Responds to requests pursuant to the Right-to-Know Law including drafting appeals to denials of requests.
- Provides advice to, develops subject matter expertise for, and litigates on behalf of County departments that report to the Board of Commissioners.
- Promotes, researches, and drafts documents relating to affirmative litigation, County ordinances, and other proactive measures designed to protect the County and its residents from fraud, false claims, and other unfair trade practices.
- Promotes, develops, and reforms policies in accordance with the policy and administrative goals of the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Elections, and other entities on which the Bucks County Commissioners serve.
