About the role

The incumbent handles legal problems, administrative hearings, and trials involving county departments, boards, and commissions under the guidance of the County Attorney.

Legal counsel is provided to department heads and officials, and representation of the county in New York State and Federal Courts is handled to ensure the interests of Westchester County are represented.

Responsibilities

  • Handles legal problems, administrative hearings, and trials involving county departments, boards, and commissions.
  • Provides legal counsel to department heads and officials.
  • Represents the county in New York State and Federal Courts.
  • Exercises independent judgment in assigned matters within the scope of authority granted.
  • Serves as a resource for legal issues and provides guidance to department heads and officials.

Requirements

  • Admission to the bar of the State of New York.
  • Experience in handling legal problems, administrative hearings, and trials involving county departments, boards, and commissions.
  • Ability to represent the county in New York State and Federal Courts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in law (JD).
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience.

Skills

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to handle complex legal cases and trials.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Pay

$80,000 - $120,000 annually based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
