Assistant Corrosion Project Manager

About the role

This role blends office-based engineering tasks with hands-on field assessments. Office work includes preparing for field assignments, compiling field data, and writing reports and technical memorandums. Field work involves performing corrosion and materials assessments on pipelines and concrete structures in water, wastewater, and transportation industries. Field assignments may require entering confined spaces, working near traffic, and entering wastewater structures. Frequent national travel is expected for field work. Classroom and hands-on safety training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of single or multi-discipline teams throughout a project’s life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out) under the supervision of a Project Manager
  • Be responsible for many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project
  • Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule
  • Work with the Project Manager, Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Conduct analyses to develop chemical or process-related design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of project deliverables (examples include engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and project specifications)
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers/professionals on larger projects
  • Work with assistance from Project Engineers, Engineers In-Training (EITs), Designers, or BIM Specialists as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years related experience
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license)
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project execution within the Oil and Gas, Chemicals, Mining, Food and Beverage and/or Industrial Markets
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Chemical/Process design software (examples include Aspen Suite, EnviroSim BioWin, Hatch GPS-X, or OLI Systems)
