About the role
The Assistant Controller position at Leslie Controls, Inc. (Tampa BU) focuses on accounting, internal controls, financial planning & analysis, and business partner support to Manufacturing/Operations. Key responsibilities include accurate and timely financial reporting, coordination of the month-end close process, oversight of internal and external audits, and support for budget-to-actual and detailed transaction reporting.
Responsibilities
- Analyze month-end, month to date financial and statistical data to understand the drivers for variances from budget/forecast/prior year and develop improvement plans with operations.
- Lead the month-end financial close responsibilities for the department including accurate preparation/review of journal entries, account reconciliations, SOX control evidence, etc.
- Maintain procedures and controls to ensure the control environment and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance to support weekly reporting requirements such as financial performance updates, operational key metrics and other KPI’s.
- Lead and prepare the annual operating budget and monthly forecasts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflows).
- Oversee the budget accountability process with budget owners.
- Act as the subject matter expert on the internal workings of Revenue Recognition (ASC 606 Percentage of Completion).
- Provide financial support to help drive key site improvement initiatives including, but not limited to, project accounting, pricing controls, program reporting, margin improvement and cost reduction programs.
- Support, and at times lead, continuous improvement initiatives in the business for Operations and Finance.
- Liaise with segment/corporate accounting, internal and external auditors as required.
- Ensure maintenance of accurate and complete financial records in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, GAAP, and CIRCOR Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Requirements
- Prior Management Experience Leading a Small Team
- Thorough knowledge of financial performance drivers, accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of internal controls.
- Capable of researching, retrieving, organizing, and summarizing data sets needed for financial reporting and various ad-hoc analysis.
- Desire to lead and hold him/ herself accountable.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various business partners.
- Ability to self-motivate and drive for results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Power BI a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- MBA a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably including cost accounting or financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP and financial systems, IFS Cloud and BPC are a plus.
- Understanding/ prior experience in applying accounting and finance concepts and principles in a US DoD manufacturing environment (CAS, DFARS, FAR, TINA, etc.) is a plus.
- CPA or CMA desired.
