Assistant Controller - St. Petersburg, FL

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will oversee daily financial activity, ensure compliance with accounting principles, and provide financial insights.

This is a full-time, salary-exempt position based on-site at our St. Petersburg, FL (33716) headquarters with no travel required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and consolidating financial statements
• Reviewing and approving journal entries
• Establishing and maintaining internal controls
• Managing all aspects of the general ledger
• Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
• Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
• Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
• Maintaining employee expense reporting process
• Analyzing and reporting cost variances
• Serving as a liaison to external auditors
• Supervising senior staff accountant

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience
• Public accounting experience (preferred)
• MBA or CPA (a plus)
• Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software and advanced Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights
