Assistant Controller

Responsibilities

• Partner with warehouse personnel to maintain accurate inventory records and resolve stock-related accounting questions.
• Manage accounting activities related to inventory conversions, brokerage transactions, and consignment arrangements.
• Prepare and issue customer sales invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support selected cash management and banking tasks, ensuring proper documentation and coordination.
• Review market pricing information to help maintain current cost data and support analysis.
• Perform account reconciliations, calculate operational and financial metrics, and track key data for reporting purposes.
• Build working knowledge of purchase settlement processes, including weight verification, chemistry-related documentation, conversion support, and customer billing records.
• Provide backup assistance for administrative functions such as office supply ordering, filing, and other day-to-day support tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of standard costing principles and cost analysis methods.
• Able to reconcile accounts and interpret financial and operational data accurately.
• Proficiency in preparing invoices and maintaining supporting documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Comfortable collaborating across departments, including warehouse and administrative teams.
• Educated in effective analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting is required, with a focus on cost accounting and inventory management.

Skills

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access, is essential. Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus.
