About the role
The Assistant Controller is a key finance partner responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, integrity, and reporting excellence.
Responsibilities
- Owns general ledger, close processes, and reconciliations
- Serves as a NetSuite SME and supports oversight of outsourced accounting resources
- Works closely with leadership on financial visibility, compliance, and controls
- Lead monthly/quarterly close and financial reporting (GAAP-based)
- Oversee audit, tax, and regulatory compliance (501(c)(3) environment preferred)
- Manage AP, AR, payroll, and full balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure strong internal controls, documentation, and process improvement
- Support investment tracking and financial analysis
Requirements
- 10+ years of accounting experience with leadership exposure
- Strong NetSuite (or large ERP) and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with GAAP reporting; nonprofit experience a plus
- CPA and exposure to grant accounting or Salesforce are nice to have
