Key Responsibilities Of The Assistant Controller Partner closely with the Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reportingLead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process while ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are metPrepare and review financial statements, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedulesReview work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, overbillings, underbillings, job costing, and other construction accounting activitiesSupport annual audits and serve as a key liaison with external auditorsAnalyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to leadershipPartner with Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, and Operations to improve workflows and strengthen internal controlsIdentify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and accounting efficienciesAssist with budgeting, forecasting, acquisition support, and special projects as the organization growsProvide leadership, coaching, and guidance across the accounting team while preparing to assume future supervisory responsibilities Qualifications For The Assistant Controller Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required7+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong construction accounting experience is requiredPrior experience managing, supervising, mentoring, or leading accounting professionals is required, even if not currently managing direct reportsStrong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliationsExperience with WIP schedules, overbillings, underbillings, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accountingExperience supporting annual financial statement auditsExperience with construction ERP systemsStrong understanding of GAAP and internal controlsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skillsAbility to operate independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departmentsMust be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Benefits & Growth Annual bonus opportunityComprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefitsRetirement savings planPaid time off and company holidaysStable, high-growth organizationExecutive exposure and long-term leadership opportunitiesOpportunity to help build scalable accounting processes during an exciting growth phase This Assistant Controller opportunity is ideal for an experienced construction accounting professional who is ready to step into a high-impact leadership role.
