About the Role
The Assistant Varsity Coach supervises practice, contests, travel, equipment, and other sport-related requirements. They ensure student safety and eligibility for participation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students during practices, games, locker rooms, and around the facility.
- Ensure participants maintain acceptable standards of behavior and decorum.
- Assist in conducting and supervising practices throughout the season.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the head coach.
Shared authority with the head coach over all players and season-related activities. Supervisors include the head coach, athletic director, and principal.
Qualifications
- Appropriate National and/or State Coaching Certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 pounds).
- Reaching, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged typing.
- Physical ability to operate a keyboard and move equipment.
Equipment & Technology
- Must know how to operate or be willing to learn sport-specific equipment.
- Ability to use computers and other necessary equipment.
Work Environment
- Work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality.
- Frequent interruptions; flexibility and patience required.
- Self-motivated; ability to complete tasks without direct supervision.
- After-hours work may be required.
Salary and work calendar are established yearly by the district.
