Assistant Coach- Sports Performance- Baton Rouge
About the role
This job is primarily responsible for coaching Sports Performance classes under the general direction of the Supervisor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing a classroom setting while promoting an atmosphere required for athletic success. This job may be responsible for participating in various marketing events.
Responsibilities
- Coaches various workout and/or training classes/session specific to client/group needs; may include training Teams (large group), Facility (small group) and Facility (personal training).
- Performs and manages group class warm-ups, workout instruction, cool-downs, and other related activities.
- Performs strength, power, speed, agility, movement, and recovery programs and activities while maintaining an exciting, high-energy atmosphere for our clients.
- Buils relationships with colleagues, sports coaches, and athletes.
- Tracks and reports results of client progress.
- Maintains a safe environment by scaling movements and weights appropriately to avoid injuries.
- Maintains cleanliness of work environment before and after individual and group classes.
- Adapts behavior to the specific client population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Requirements
- Education: Required – High School Diploma or equivalent
- Work Experience: Required – 3 months’ experience with strength & speed training in a high school, collegiate, or professional performance/fitness setting
Qualifications
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard (including Microsoft Excel). Good organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to effectively lead and coach athletes of all levels and backgrounds. Ability to perform a majority of sports related movements. Ability to foster a fun and competitive workout environment, and maintain a motivated and enthusiastic attitude. Knowledge of fitness principles, basic nutrition, and health skills; with a constant drive to search to increase training knowledge. Knowledge of all training modalities. Technical knowledge of weightlifting, speed, and agility movements. Must be able to work flexible schedule, may include weekends. Reliable transportation required, travel between locations. Ability to travel throughout and between facilities/locations.

Physical and Environmental Demands
- Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
- The incumbent may work with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
- Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
