Assistant Athletic Coach

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists the Head Coach with organizational meetings and encourages participation.
• Affirms player’s skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time.
• Schedules facilities for practices and competition with the athletics director.
• Assigns duties to assistant coaches as needed.
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the sport.
• Observes players during competition and practice for individual or team improvement.
• Determines game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Maintains standards of behavior and provides supervision of athletes.
• Maintains academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility.
• Monitors and reports on the academic performance of team members.
• Follows established procedures for athlete injuries.
• Communicates with parents/guardians about athletic performance.
• Models positive behavior and maintains appropriate conduct.
• Promotes the sport through interactions with booster clubs, service clubs, and organizations.
• Develops and enforces policies for awards and submits a list of winners.
• Participates in special activities such as parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
• May drive athletes using district transportation to and from off-campus games.
• Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Prior coaching experience preferred
• At least 21 years of age
