About the role
Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a part-time, fixed-term Assistant Coach for its intercollegiate Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs. The position reflects the university's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach
- Recruit potential student-athletes via phone, email, or personal contact
- Show sincere interest in the personal, academic, and athletic progress of student-athletes
- Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior in pursuing sports program goals set by the head coach
- Lead and assist the head coach with organization and implementation of daily practice sessions and games
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-3 years of athletic coaching experience required
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
Requirements
- Successful Background Check
- Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
- Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
- OSHA on the job Hazardous Materials Safety Training

- Sponsorship: Applicants must be legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States
- CMU does not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity
- Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon
