About the role

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a part-time, fixed-term Assistant Coach for its intercollegiate Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs. The position reflects the university's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach
  • Recruit potential student-athletes via phone, email, or personal contact
  • Show sincere interest in the personal, academic, and athletic progress of student-athletes
  • Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior in pursuing sports program goals set by the head coach
  • Lead and assist the head coach with organization and implementation of daily practice sessions and games
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-3 years of athletic coaching experience required
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Requirements

  • Successful Background Check
  • Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
  • Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)
  • OSHA on the job Hazardous Materials Safety Training

  • Sponsorship: Applicants must be legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States
  • CMU does not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity
  • Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon
