Job Summary
The Assistant Coach for Men’s Ice Hockey supports the Head Coach in all aspects of program operations, including student-athlete development, recruitment, academic support, and team logistics.
Essential Functions
- Assist the Head Coach in monitoring and supporting strength and conditioning programs.
- Support on-ice and off-ice coaching activities, including practice planning and implementation, as well as individual and team instruction.
- Aid in academic oversight for student-athletes, including study hall supervision, academic progress monitoring, and related meetings.
- Participate in recruiting efforts, including prospect evaluation, database management, correspondence, and phone outreach.
- Provide input on the evaluation and development of student athletes.
- Complete the NCAA recruiting certification exam.
- Assist with scouting opponents and preparing game strategies.
- Aid in the coordination and planning of team travel within budgetary guidelines.
- Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events and special functions in alignment with departmental initiatives.
- Promote and support the academic success, personal development, and well-being of student-athletes.
Minimum Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Colegiate coaching and/or playing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and video analysis platforms (e.g., Synergy or similar tools).
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor student-athletes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, student-athletes, recruits, and their families.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division II rules, regulations, and compliance.
Schedule
Flexible, must be available to work nights and weekends.
Pay
$20,000 stipend paid over the 10-month season.
