Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan practices
- Supervise athletes at all times
- Report to Athletic Coordinator regarding accidents, equipment needs, eligibility rosters, transportation and meal requests, equipment/uniform inventory
- Develop team rules and enforce them fairly and equitably
- Provide appropriate leadership/role model for athletes
- Safely lift and transport non-ambulatory students
- Other duties as outlined in the coaches' manual
Special Requirements/Conditions
- In the event the school's transportation department is unable to provide transportation, the coach(es) may be assigned the responsibility of transporting the team to an away contest in school vehicles.
- Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required
- Must be able to pass FBI and State background check, Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
- High School Head and Assistant Coaches require NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Coaches Education certification
- High School Head Coaches require a valid Arizona Dept. of Education certificate in Athletic Coaching, Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education
- Must be able to pass post offer physical
- ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with deaf or hard of hearing staff/students
- All coaches require current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Training or certification
