Assistant Coach High School Boys Cross Country 3640 - Oro Valley

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan practices
  • Supervise athletes at all times
  • Report to Athletic Coordinator regarding accidents, equipment needs, eligibility rosters, transportation and meal requests, equipment/uniform inventory
  • Develop team rules and enforce them fairly and equitably
  • Provide appropriate leadership/role model for athletes
  • Safely lift and transport non-ambulatory students
  • Other duties as outlined in the coaches' manual

Special Requirements/Conditions

  • In the event the school's transportation department is unable to provide transportation, the coach(es) may be assigned the responsibility of transporting the team to an away contest in school vehicles.
  • Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as required
  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check, Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business
  • High School Head and Assistant Coaches require NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Coaches Education certification
  • High School Head Coaches require a valid Arizona Dept. of Education certificate in Athletic Coaching, Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education
  • Must be able to pass post offer physical
  • ASL (American Sign Language) skills if working with deaf or hard of hearing staff/students
  • All coaches require current CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Training or certification
