Qualifications

• Successful high school and/or collegiate-level coaching experience
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Commitment to developing and maintaining positive relationships between the cross-country program and the local community
• Valid Minnesota coaching certificate (or alternative qualifications)

About the Role

Reports to the Head Varsity Boys Cross Country Coach and the White Bear Lake Area High School Athletics/Activities Directors.

Objectives:

• Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
• Provide instruction that fosters moral values, pride in accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and confidence
• Demonstrate substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of cross country
• Successfully establish positive relationships with all stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Promote an attitude of fair play in adherence to the Minnesota State High School League "Code of Ethics"
• Fulfill all duties of an assistant coach
• Attend all competitions and training sessions regularly
• Instruct student-athletes on rules, rule changes, new developments, and innovative coaching ideas
• Understand and apply rules and regulations set by the Minnesota State High School League
• Adhere to the educational and athletic philosophy and objectives of White Bear Lake Area Schools
