DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Affords assistance to the Head Coach with the following tasks:
- Availability on Saturdays during the season
- Organizational meetings for team prospects and encouragement of participation
- Assessment of player skills and assignment of team positions
- Development of a regular practice schedule and organization of practice time
- Scheduling of facilities for practices and competition with the athletics director
- Assignment of duties to assistant coaches as needed
- Coaching and instruction of players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
- Observation of players during competition and practice to identify needs for improvement
- Determination of game strategy based on team capabilities
- Establishment and maintenance of standards of behavior and provision of supervision of athletes
- Maintenance of academic performance of team members to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encouragement of high academic standards
- Monitoring of athlete injuries and adherence to established procedures
- Conferencing with parents/guardians regarding athletic performance of student athletes
- Modeling positive behavior and maintaining appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
- Acting as a team representative and promoting the sport through communication with booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations
- Following established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
- Participation in special activities such as parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies
- Maintenance of eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records
- Potential use of district transportation to transport athletes to and from off-campus games
- Modeling non-discriminatory practices in all activities
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Prior coaching experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
