Assistant Coach-Cross Country
About the role
*Multiple positions available for the Fall season. Pay range is $3,810 stipend, based on the Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of the athletic program as directed by the head coach
- Assume duties as assigned by the head coach and assist with organizational matters
- Communicate concerns to the head coach and assume head coach responsibilities in absence
- Administer first aid and file accident reports
- Support recommended disciplinary actions
- Adhere to district policies and administrative regulations
- Emphasize safety and trainings
- Keep up-to-date with new knowledge and techniques in the sport
- Absorb other assigned responsibilities
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience and/or training in the appropriate sport preferred
- Valid First Aid and CPR cards
- Willingness to maintain current cards and coaching clock hours standards
- Cooperative working relationship with staff, students, parents, and coaches
- Positive attitude towards working with youth
- Understanding of relevant rules and regulations
- At least 19 years of age
Qualifications
- Must adhere to Kelso School District policies and administrative regulations
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Must pass a fingerprint background check

- Ability to communicate openly and immediately
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
- Ability to treat injuries with discretion and administer first aid
- Ability to support recommended disciplinary actions
- Ability to adhere to safety precautions
- Ability to take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Ability to take charge in the absence of the head coach
Benefits
This position is not eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, or life insurance. Sick leave accrues at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked in accordance with Washington state law.
Pay
$3,810 stipend, based on the Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule.
