About the role
Under the direction of the Associate Dean/Athletic Director - Kinesiology, the Assistant Coach for Cross Country will perform the following:
Responsibilities
- Aid in the planning and execution of the cross country program at Barstow Community College.
- Recruit competitive players.
- Plan and direct conditioning, training, practice and athletic performance of student/athlete team members.
- Maintain team statistics and records.
- Develop and maintain a close relationship with local high school coaches.
- Ensure compliance with college rules and policies, the Commission on Athletics as well as other applicable regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications - Must have either an Associate's Degree and six years coaching experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and two years experience;
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Qualifications
- Unofficial copy of transcripts from a regionally accredited institution of Higher Education verifying educational degrees (official transcripts required upon offer of employment).

Benefits
- Part-time, certificated position.
- Indexed to part-time faculty rate ($63-$68) on the BCFA Salary Schedule, plus a $3,000 stipend per semester.
Pay
- Part-time faculty/short-term temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap.
- Part-time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full-time faculty load for the past (2) two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro-rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap.
