Assistant CMT Technician

About the role

This opportunity is for an Assistant CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Technician to perform field and lab testing for construction projects. The position is located in El Paso, TX.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine soil sampling/testing and/or laboratory testing of soil.
• Properly calibrate testing equipment under general supervision.
• Confirm compliance with project specifications in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
• Review plans, specifications, general notes and shop/working drawings for assigned activities prior to performing assigned duties.
• Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data.
• Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project site.
• Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license due to the need to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.
• 3+ years of experience conducting Geotechnical Testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
• Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
• Background check is a requirement for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current TxDOT Level 1A, 1B certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles.
• Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
