Assistant Clinical Professor, Dental Hygiene

About the Role

The Assistant Clinical Professor, Dental Hygiene position is for the Junior Clinic Director in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Northern Arizona University. This role involves providing leadership and oversight for junior-level clinical education, ensuring effective clinic operations, supporting student learning and assessment, maintaining compliance with program standards, and facilitating communication among faculty, staff, and external clinical partners.

Responsibilities Include

• Teach foundational Junior Clinic Courses, DH311 and DH312
• Develop and manage clinic schedules for junior clinic courses (DH311, DH312), including coordination of external rotation experiences as applicable
• Collaborate with the Department Chair and Academic Program Coordinator to order, manage, and distribute student instrument kits
• Absorb and provide hands-on training in clinic
• Supervise and provide hands-on training in clinic
• Perform service to the department/college/university
• Attend and participate in departmental and college events

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Dental Hygiene from an ADA-CODA accredited institution
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in dental hygiene
• Experience with ADA-CODA accreditation standards
• Ability to teach in a clinical setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with distance learning technology
