Responsibilities
- Monitor quality of flight training through stage checks, flight instruction as assigned, and flight instructor supervision.
- This responsibility will include some Saturdays.
- Serve as a mentor for flight instructors as assigned.
- Maintain an understanding of current technologies applicable to the courses being taught.
- Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the flight training courses.
- Actively pursue relationships with students, faculty, and staff encouraging the accomplishment of the purpose and mission of LeTourneau University and the School of Aviation and Aeronautical Science.
- Participate in normal college activities related to a staff position, such as convocations, chapels, and graduation activities.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Aviation
- Commercial pilot airplane – single-engine land with instrument rating
- Certificated flight instructor airplane – single-engine land, instrument airplane
- Mets 14 CFR Part 141 experience requirements for an assistant chief instructor for Private, Commercial single-engine, and Instrument certificates and ratings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team relationship with flight instructor staff and within the community of LeTourneau University
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Commercial pilot airplane – multi-engine land with instrument rating
- Certificated flight instructor airplane -- multi-engine land
- Significant tailwheel flight experience
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- 121/135 experience
- Aerobatic or upset training experience
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate
