Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality of flight training through stage checks, flight instruction as assigned, and flight instructor supervision.
  • This responsibility will include some Saturdays.
  • Serve as a mentor for flight instructors as assigned.
  • Maintain an understanding of current technologies applicable to the courses being taught.
  • Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the flight training courses.
  • Actively pursue relationships with students, faculty, and staff encouraging the accomplishment of the purpose and mission of LeTourneau University and the School of Aviation and Aeronautical Science.
  • Participate in normal college activities related to a staff position, such as convocations, chapels, and graduation activities.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Aviation
  • Commercial pilot airplane – single-engine land with instrument rating
  • Certificated flight instructor airplane – single-engine land, instrument airplane
  • Mets 14 CFR Part 141 experience requirements for an assistant chief instructor for Private, Commercial single-engine, and Instrument certificates and ratings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team relationship with flight instructor staff and within the community of LeTourneau University

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Commercial pilot airplane – multi-engine land with instrument rating
  • Certificated flight instructor airplane -- multi-engine land
  • Significant tailwheel flight experience
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • 121/135 experience
  • Aerobatic or upset training experience
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate
