About the role
The Assistant Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Kingston Resorts in Myrtle Beach, SC. This position supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and operation of resort facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house systems.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and respond to service requests.
- Supervise maintenance team members and ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Manage vendor relationships, monitor inventory of tools and supplies, and assist with capital improvement projects and renovations.
- Enforce safety standards, maintain regulatory compliance, and collaborate with other departments to provide a safe, well-maintained environment that enhances the guest experience.
Qualifications
- Facilities maintenance and engineering skills, including experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Preventive maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and equipment repair across hospitality or commercial properties.
- Supervisory and team leadership skills, including task delegation, training, and performance oversight.
- Project coordination skills, including vendor management, budgeting assistance, and support for capital improvement projects.
- Strong safety, compliance, and documentation skills, with familiarity in building codes, OSHA standards, and maintenance recordkeeping.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations, housekeeping, and front office teams.
- Relevant experience in hotel or resort engineering, preferably in a multi-building or large property environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certifications or trade licenses (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to perform physically active tasks such as lifting, climbing, and extended walking.
- Extensive experience managing HVAC chillers and their supporting systems and equipment.
