Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the building's equipment, including preventative maintenance and repairs, and monitor security and life safety systems in collaboration with the Security team. They will also assist in the administration of recruitment, training, scheduling, and payroll for the Engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance of the building, rooms, fixtures, all property equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems.
• Assists in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds in good working order.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Conduct daily supervision of the team to ensure proper training, execution of work assignments, and resolution of house calls within expected time frames.
• Maintain professional relationships with vendors, on-site partners, F&B, and residential counterparts to ensure property needs are met.
• Maintain the shop in good order, ensuring all equipment and work space are safe and clean.
• Monitor the hotel's preventative maintenance program and assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating these programs.
• Conduct room inspections and identify repair needs.
• Maintain proper supplies and equipment for all team members.
• Participate in all hiring decisions for the Engineering Department.
• Hold team members accountable and carry out corrective action as necessary.
• Supervise and lead the outsourced Security operation, ensuring adequate communication and follow-ups.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction in line with Kimpton's standards.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Fire Safety Director Certification required.
• Minimum of 2+ years related experience as an Engineering Supervisor at a full-service hotel.
• Prior experience with building maintenance systems and processes required, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Previous experience in Security, Life Safety, or Loss Prevention preferred.
• Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to supervise and lead the work of others.
