Assistant Chief Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the daily operations of the Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will assist with supervising the Engineering team, implementing preventative maintenance programs, monitoring life safety systems, and ensuring all building systems and equipment operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the supervision and direction of the Engineering team and daily departmental operations.
• Assisting in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and repair schedules for all hotel equipment and systems.
• Maintaining oversight of life safety systems, utilities, and mechanical operations to ensure compliance with corporate standards and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other operational systems.
• Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel’s physical plant, grounds, swimming pool, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
• Responding to maintenance requests and troubleshooting equipment and facility issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborating with vendors and contractors as needed for repairs, inspections, and specialized projects.
• Ensuring a safe environment for guests and associates through adherence to safety procedures and operational standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a maintenance technician role, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required.
• Previous hospitality or hotel maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, commercial kitchen equipment, laundry machinery, and AV/security systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
• The ability to assist in supervising engineering operations and supporting departmental goals.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
