Assistant Chef - Union South Kitchen
Job Summary
The Wisconsin Union is seeking an Assistant Chef to manage and operate the high-volume Union South production kitchen. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, this position oversees kitchen staff, executes recipes, and ensures exceptional customer service and product quality.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in daily food production activities to maximize efficiency and ensure high-quality product delivery.
- Support and assist in implementing best practices for kitchen organization, safety, efficiency, and established operating procedures.
- Support the catering and retail/restaurant teams.

The position is located in the Wisconsin Union, part of the Dining & Hospitality, Culinary department.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected starting salary is $22.50 per hour. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitive health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of kitchen experience with high volume batch cooking.
- 1 year of experience as a leader overseeing kitchen staff and kitchen production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or relevant training and experience.
- Certified in ServSafe.
