CHEF ASSISTANT

About the role

The Chef Assistant supports the head chef and sous chef by prepping ingredients, cooking dishes, and ensuring the kitchen runs safely and efficiently. This is a live-in position.

Responsibilities

• Knife work
• Working breakfast
• Assisting with a three-course dinner
• Maintaining strict sanitation standards
• Variety of prep work

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a line/prep cook
• Working knowledge of seasonal ingredients
• Quick thinking and adaptability
• Exceptional communication skills
• Strong knife skills
• Positive attitude
• 1 year minimum commitment

Compensation

• Salaried, $35,568* - $50,000

• Furnished private room in shared housing about 3 miles from the inn in a large old farm house
• Shared bathroom with one other person
• Wifi, utilities, mainland parking, transportation to and from employee housing as well as 3 round trips on and off the island daily
• Three meals a day plus basic groceries
• 2 weeks paid vacation after one year of employment
• Medical and dental after 90 days
