Community Partners in Action (CPA) is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country, championing criminal justice reform and advocating for the dignity of those in and out of prison. Through reentry and housing programs, youth initiatives, a nationally recognized Prison Arts Program, and holistic alternatives to incarceration, CPA serves nearly 7,000 individuals annually across Connecticut. The organization is committed to building an inclusive, equitable workplace and addressing racial inequities in the criminal justice system.

About the Program

The REGIONS Site Secure Program is a secure residential treatment program for up to 16 male youth. Its mission is to provide a home-like, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment to improve the social, physical, and emotional well-being of youth. The program aims to therapeutically intervene in the cycle of offending, reduce risk factors, and prevent transition into the adult justice system. Youth in the program may have histories of violence, complex needs, and high risk for future offenses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef in planning and preparing three healthy, home-like meals daily for approximately 20 youth and staff.
  • Assist with inventory and food ordering as requested.
  • Follow dietary guidelines as determined by a licensed dietician.
  • Maintain sanitation in accordance with agency specifications and Health Department regulations.
  • Provide vocational training to program youth.
  • Instruct staff in food preparation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience with food ordering and meal preparation in a group setting.
  • Clear understanding of Connecticut’s food service regulations and experience meeting Department of Health regulations.
  • Certified Qualified Food Operator or ability to qualify.
  • Ability to interact with multicultural populations and strong decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, resourcefulness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Belief in the capacity for personal change and a commitment to providing quality services to individuals in need.
  • Valid CT driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Schedule

Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Sunday and Monday off.

Pay

$24.38 per hour.
