About the Role

We're looking for a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Assistant Chef who enjoys creating nutritious meals in a structured environment while making a meaningful difference in the lives of teens in recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef with daily meal preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
  • Prepare meals according to menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and portion guidelines
  • Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served safely following food safety and sanitation standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, food prep areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Complete food temperature logs and daily production records
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking, grocery shopping, and receiving deliveries
  • Properly label and store food products to maintain freshness and safety
  • Report equipment repairs and maintenance needs to the Head Chef
  • Support compliance with Texas regulations, Joint Commission standards, and facility policies
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to provide quality meals for residential clients
  • Perform additional kitchen and food service duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or one year of related work experience
  • One to three years of food service or commercial kitchen experience preferred
  • Current Food Handler Certification (required upon hire)
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (required upon hire)
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and inventory
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures
  • Professional communication skills and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
