Temporary, part-time position in Athletics lasting 7 months.

About the role

The Liberty Cheerleading Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in developing individual and team talent, overseeing instruction, and supervising activities related to weekly practices and scheduled games.

Responsibilities

  • Assist head coach with managing cheerleading practices and performances.
  • Attend all game day performances (Home Football Games, Home Men’s & Women’s Basketball Games, etc.).
  • Supervise cheerleaders at games, competitions, and other planned events involving cheerleading.
  • Assist the Head Coach with clinics and recruiting: on campus, remotely, and at different events in the area.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering Liberty University’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience on a collegiate cheerleading team.
  • Staffing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Positive mentor to student-athletes.
  • Responsible and organized when working with the Head Coach and other Athletic Staff.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English professionally.
  • Public communication skills for representing Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational and computer/scheduling skills.
  • Problem-solving ability to analyze information and apply judgment.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • May sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear, speak, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Climate-controlled, well-lighted, moderate-noise environment.
  • Occasional outdoor event facilitation.

Driving Requirements

Use of a personal or Liberty University vehicle may be required. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Pay

$12,000 annual salary, prorated based on the 7-month term of employment.
