Assistant Cheerleading Coach

About the role

The Post University Cheer Team is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Cheerleading Assistant Coach to lead and motivate a team of cheerleaders, develop routines, and teach proper techniques alongside the head coach.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in recruitment, outreach, follow-up, and retention efforts.
  • Assist the head coach in planning and executing practices and game day routines.
  • Maintain positive relationships with cheerleaders and University administrators and faculty.
  • Teach proper technique for stunts, tumbling, jumps, and dance.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by following proper safety protocols.
  • Motivate cheerleaders to reach their full potential.
  • Attend cheer-related events, meetings, or school events, team bonding activities, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with administrative and coaching experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to NCAA and institutional guidelines and regulations.
  • Understand and commit to the NCAA's primary purpose of maintaining intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the educational program and the athlete as an integral part of the student body.
  • Show proven success working in intercollegiate athletics or highly related fields.
  • Have experience recruiting and hiring qualified student-athletes.
  • Display commitment to academic and fiscal integrity.
  • Show proven leadership skills, both soft and hard.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Have experience negotiating and maintaining vendor contracts.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and a desire to use data for decision-making.
  • Show proven experience working in a collaborative matrix environment.
