Assistant Camp Counselor - New Town Day Camp
About the role
New Town Day Camp (NTDC) at the 14th Street Y seeks Assistant Camp Counselors to join our vibrant summer program. Campers enjoy a variety of activities including swim sessions, rooftop play, and engaging educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare curriculum with the head counselor, based on children's interests
- Attend weekly planning meetings with the camp team
- Create a warm and inclusive classroom environment
- Engage students in exploration and learning; coach children through understanding their feelings and creating space to problem-solve conflicts with peers
- Build respectful and reciprocal relationships with families at pick up and drop off
- Participate in all camp activities, including swimming
Qualifications
- Teaching experience in an early childhood setting or child care experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills with parents, children, and co-workers
- Experience working in an inclusive environment that supports children needing extra support
- Pursuing or holding an undergraduate or graduate degree is a plus
