About the role
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) plays a crucial role in the management and success of a branch. They assist the Branch Manager in achieving sales goals, supervising staff, serving customers, processing loan applications, managing exceptions, ensuring security, and promoting a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Branch Manager in leading the branch towards achieving sales goals, including outbound calling, sales meetings, and coaching.
- Supervises designated staff members, impacting decisions on employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary, transfers, and termination.
- Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Gold Service Standards.
- Opens new deposit accounts and understands the financial services offered by the bank.
- Processes all loan applications (within lending authority) and paperwork, extending credit to qualified individuals and businesses through various installment, commercial, and real estate products.
- Affixes delinquent loans and manages loan and deposit exceptions.
- Manages security procedures and understands the operation of security devices.
- Provides leadership, exemplifying good customer relations and effective selling and cross-selling.
- May resolve routine personnel problems.
- Assists tellers in balancing daily work, researching differences, and making necessary adjustments.
- Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, explaining policies and procedures as necessary.
- Ensures an adequate supply of money for daily bank transactions and maintains branch inventory of supplies.
- Maintains an understanding of branch audit procedures and conducts self-audits using the Branch Internal Control Review quarterly.
- Presents a neat and professional personal appearance and orderly work area.
- Develops and maintains a sales culture environment.
- Maintains a strong understanding of customer-facing technology and the ability to discuss self-service options with customers.
Qualifications, Education, And Certification Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, BA degree and/or 2 years in Banking Experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Customer Service/Sales/Branch Manager, strong organizational skills, previous supervisory experience, strong PC skills, previous banking experience, ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Knowledge: Excellent leadership and communication skills, planning and organizational skills, good decision-making skills, excellent writing skills, training and oral presentation skills, customer service orientation, initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Training Requirements/Classes: The SouthState Way New Team Member Orientation, Branch Manager Workshop, Consumer Lending- Obtain your SSB Lender Credentials, Banker Foundations, All assigned Regulatory Compliance training, Acknowledgment of all policies through DocuSign as assigned, Additional training may be required dependent upon experience.
