Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager, proactively sell the Bank’s products and services to existing customers and prospects, support the sales efforts of the platform team, ensure superior customer service levels, and assist with the management of daily operations.
  • Support efforts of the Branch Manager in leading and developing the team to achieve results.
  • Assist with the daily management of a large banking office under the direction of the branch manager.
  • Responsible for achievement of personal sales goals and proactively guide the sales activities of the platform staff toward achievement of branch goals.
  • Engage in sales and service coaching sessions with sales staff using tested techniques.
  • Fully understand major aspects of the retail incentive plan and business loans, and use that knowledge to coach staff to success.
  • Engage in business development and community involvement activities.
  • Responsible for daily branch operations including overdraft management, vault management, branch schedules, opening and closing of the office, and other duties.
  • Ensure the branch's adherence to audit/compliance requirements.
  • Manage customer service levels within the branch, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Act as the manager on duty when the Branch Manager is away from the office.
  • In the absence of the Branch Manager, apply policy for routine aspects of management.
  • Prepare and deliver performance appraisals for subordinates as directed by the Branch Manager.
  • Gain a full understanding of the teller function.
  • Balance policy and procedures to make decisions that are mutually beneficial to the bank and the customer; seek guidance when dealing with policy ambiguity or unfamiliar situations.

Requirements

  • Excellent decision-making, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem resolution skills.
  • Basic business acumen and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to build relationships and strong alliances across the organization.
  • Strong understanding and evidence of business calling and business development skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn all details about the products and services offered by the bank and retain and build upon product knowledge.
  • Ability to understand the "big picture" in banking (e.g., how a bank makes money, what makes a product profitable).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of retail banking experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience required; experience in a retail banking environment strongly preferred.
  • History of solid sales and service success.
  • Demonstrated leadership achievement in leading both small and large groups.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Frequently required to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., calculator, copy machine, printer).
  • Occasionally required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Occasional travel to locations outside of the facility for meetings, trainings, events, and other business activities.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain or access files in file cabinets.
  • Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Frequently observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move boxes or equipment up to 20 pounds across the office for various needs.
  • Generally subject to inside environmental conditions with lighting, temperature, and noise levels typical of an open floor-plan office environment (moderate, but occasionally loud).
  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
